Nino Filiu, a French maker of experimental art games, chairs the game jam at this year's Octobre Numérique – Faire Monde, the digital arts festival in Arles. The free jam runs on Discord from noon on Oct. 21 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 25, Paris time, and entrants build a game around a theme revealed at the start. In the reel announcing it, Filiu shows entries from the 2025 edition, including Sebastien Thon's Escaping The Between and Exyde's What Remains Of Ourselves. Watch it below.

The festival's jam page invites developers, artists, musicians, writers and the curious, and says a jam is not only a question of code but a meeting of graphics, narration, interactivity and sound. Filiu's announcement asks every kind of maker to come and make art games together.

Octobre Numérique runs across Arles through Nov. 8, curated by Vincent Moncho, with seven exhibitions. They include Anima Ludens, a show of contemporary Japanese game work at the Chapelle des Trinitaires, and Mathilde Reynaud's new game Le langage des phalènes, which starts from the moth that jammed the Mark II computer in 1947.

Filiu cofounded the art game collective Distraction, whose open-world game Aggregate (2024) makes the paths a player walked in earlier lives safe to cross. Filiu's solo games include Anemoia (2025), a playable dissertation on nostalgiacore, and Staggered (2025), a playable poem that Side Quest includes in its list of 100 art games. In 2025 Filiu spoke at A MAZE. about the Paris art game scene.
