IORAMA, the studio of Finn Ericson and Eran Hilleli, posted a video on Sept. 25 showing A Fool's Errand running on an iPhone. The game came out on Playdate in November 2025, and the studio has not announced a release date or price for an iOS version. Watch the clip below.

On Playdate, A Fool's Errand is a 1-bit climbing game. According to its Playdate catalog page, the player cranks young Roland up the "infinitely-spiralling" Dark Tower while dodging traps and creatures, in what IORAMA calls "a fabled 1D ascent." Panic's staff note on the listing calls it a "precision-cranker" that gets easier with practice.

The iPhone footage keeps the black-and-white art and the spiraling tower but drops the crank: the player in the clip moves Roland with a thumb on the touchscreen.

IORAMA's earlier work includes the animation app Looom, which the studio lists as a 2020 Apple Design Award winner, the Playdate game Grand Tour Legends and the iPad app Graintouch. The studio says it draws on "musical instruments and early video games."
