Every sigil you collect makes Pulcra's flesh maze meaner

The Slender formula was always a ratchet: eight pages, and the woods get worse as you collect. Pulcra Remastered tightens the screw until it squeaks. Ten sigils open the exit of a maze built from flesh, and every one you pick up spawns more enemies, so a run gets harder exactly as it gets closer to over. Vikintor previewed the update in October; the finished remaster shipped on Halloween, a year after the original.

Vikintor’s October preview of Pulcra Remastered.

One level, one hit kills you, sigils placed at random, and a gun with infinite ammo that reloads slowly enough to make every missed shot a decision.

Vikintor is the Brazilian creator of Tamashii and Teocida, a maker of what the artist's own page calls surreal punk-metaphysical little experiments. The flesh is a running theme: Killscreen covered a new enemy from Evangelho da Carne, the Gospel of the Flesh, just last week. Whereas that game is still growing in the dark, Pulcra Remastered is the five-minute version in the same vein, that horror works best when the walls are wet.

Killscreen keeps up with handmade horror, the work too strange for a marketing budget. The Radar brings it to your inbox free, three times a week.
