Models want to look virtual. Videogame models want to look real.

While art direction in big budget games is largely a race towards the photorealism, it seems that the fashion world would like to be virtual. The clothing retailer H&M has admitted that their lingerie models are too good to be true.
“It’s not a real body; it is completely virtual and made by the computer,” H&M press officer Hacan Andersson told Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet in an article questioning the company’s picture-perfect online models…
When asked how they do it, the spokesperson replied:
“We take pictures of the clothes on a doll that stands in the shop, and then create the human appearance with a program on [a] computer.”
While the news may cause shock and confusion among most people, for those of us who have been playing Dead Or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball nightly for the past 8 years, the revelation brings another feeling—vindication!
