Dice Have No Eyes turns push-your-luck into a fever dream

Two of the four people who made Arco have a new game, and it is nothing like Arco. Dice Have No Eyes, from pixel artist Franek Nowotniak and programmer Max Cahill, hit Steam this year: a push-your-luck roguelike the two bill as a surreal fever dream about greed management. You clear a level, you upgrade your dice, you feed them dumplings, and at every moment the game offers one more roll, which is exactly one roll more than you should take. Where Arco was patient and mournful about consequence, this one makes consequence a slot machine.

Let's talk dice. No pips to read, no faces to count—just the raw act of wanting more, drawn in Franek's thick pixel line and set in gambling-parlor psychedelia, with something called King Fetus waiting for the truly lucky. We wrote last year about the expected value of wonder in Balatro; this is that argument with the cards swapped for bones.
