On Friday, Oct. 23, the Learning Centre at V&A South Kensington runs on creative code for a night. Digital Meetup: Systems at Play is free, drop-in and unticketed, open to anyone under 26, and built with arebyte, the London digital art centre whose Hotel Generation program has raised a bench of early-career artists who now get a national museum for an evening.
Ambie Drew works through how digital images rewrite memory, and Freddie Sanders maps landscapes out of satellite data; both ask you to bring a laptop, and the museum has a few to lend. Olivia Ema installs an interactive piece that reimagines reality, Emir Johnston pairs intelligent machines with moving ones to make physical images, and Maria Than's new installation has you painting digital mandalas with your voice. The night folds in a Processing Community Day show and tell, open for submissions from anyone with a sketch they are proud of.
It runs 5:30 to 9 p.m. as part of the V&A Digital Art Season: On Agency, per arebyte's announcement. If you are under 26 and anywhere near South Kensington on Oct. 23, this is the cheapest art school in London.
The artists in this room are the ones you will be reading about in five years. Killscreen Radar gets there first, three times a week, free.
