Future? No Thanks! is Molleindustria's open-world adventure set in 2045, in an ecosocialist utopia where the climate is mending, democracy works and the one thing out of joint is you: Harvey Huffstone, a grumpy elder working through a bucket list on the last day before a self-scheduled euthanasia. The game came out Sept. 4, and in Copenhagen it screens where the program puts its mature-themed work: the shower room. Paolo Pedercini's studio has spent two decades building games against the grain of their own premises, and a utopia whose protagonist wants out is a perfect fit.

From the announcement trailer for Future? No Thanks! Silent excerpt; the full trailer with sound is on Steam.

It plays as part of Mr Woofmantic Games & Jazz, a weekend of experimental games, concerts and workshops built around a piano-playing dog who lives in a videogame, co-produced by Horațiu Roman in Copenhagen and Til Nomi in Berlin. The games exhibition is free and the announcement pegs the dates: Nov. 20 and 21 at Kildevæld Kulturcenter, part of Game On!, a city-wide games event backed by Københavns Kommune.

The shower room also holds Robert Yang's Rinse and Repeat and Pippin Barr's It is as if you were making love. Elsewhere in the hall: House House's wriggling two-player Push Me Pull You, the music games ODDADA and Rhythm Doggo, a Danish section including Saltsea Chronicles, and a Kjell Håftén workshop on building controllers out of trash. Evening sets come from Jake Sherman and Thom Gill, with tickets required for the concerts only.
