Montagues Mount is the brooding English countryside horror you’ve been waiting for

I don’t spend a toooon of time on Indiegogo but Montagues Mount is a total gem that might miss its mark. Irish game designer Matthew Clifton is taking the dark greys of homeland and sending a Dear Esther vibe along its hills. Any game named after the house that Romeo hailed from has to be a tragedy, right?

Montague’s Mount is a first person psychological rollercoaster ride through isolation, desolation and one man’s tortured mind; all set against the bleakness of an isolated Irish island.

It was born out of a love of both video games and cinema. Long before I ever sat down to create my first video game (approximately 20 years ago), I could been seen waving a camera at just about anything. Over the years, certain movies have captured my imagination, namely; “One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest”; Kubrick’s “The Shinning”; “The Blair Witch Project”; and more recently, Scorsese’s “Shutter Island”. All these films have a common thread of isolation, desolation and touch upon some shocking issues.
