I Sang to Shigeru Miyamoto

I sang to Shigeru Miyamoto. I wrote him a song and I played it for him. He swayed gently with my nervous strumming and then I shook his hand.

It was the Game Developers Conference in 2007. I’m not sure how I got in. I was dressed in red overalls and a cap with the letter “M” on it, and at the time I was putting out daily videos as GameJew, my Nintendo-obsessed alter-ego. The sole reason I attended was to track down Miyamoto and sing to him.
