Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley Releases The Eyes Under the Sky
The free browser horror game, part of a comics series of the same name, is set in public toilets
Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley has released The Eyes Under the Sky, a free browser horror game about gender enforcement in public toilets. It accompanies a comics series of the same name and is playable at theeyesunderthesky.com. Brathwaite-Shirley built it to run on phones, including inside Instagram's in-app browser.

The game itself asks a deceptively innocuous question at its start: "What do you see?" And after selecting, you're hurtled into an otherworldly environment of monstrous gender enforcers, prying eyes, and a blood sacrifice to the skies. In the announcement, the artist described the game as a way to think through growing restrictions on trans people's access to public toilets, but it's also another visually challenging work from Brathwaite-Shirley to ask you fundamental questions about who we are and what dignities we deserve.
It is Brathwaite-Shirley's second free browser game in two months, after I DIDNT REALISE YOU THOUGHT LIKE THAT, which Killscreen covered in August. The artist has also discussed the archival practice behind the games on the Killscreen podcast.

Games like this get made, released free, and missed by nearly everyone covering the medium. Killscreen catches them. The newsletter costs nothing.
