Come duel your friends to Bach’s concertos this Wednesday

For the second installment of Downtown Alliance’s Game On! series of summer block parties, we’ll be bringing refined play to the financial district with Bach’s concertos and the French boules game Petanque. If you haven’t yet played the incredibly fun local multiplayer Johann Sebastian Joust, you’ll have the chance on Wednesday if you’re near Manhattan. In time to Bach’s Bradenburg Concertos you will move with your friends, being careful not to jostle your controller. When the music is slow your controller is super sensitive and you need to move carefully, but when it speeds up you can take your opportunity to dash at your friends and hit their controller. Whoever lasts the longest without jostling their controller wins.

If you can’t make it to the beach this summer we’ll have a little sand pit set up to kick off your shoes and play some Petanque. A 100-year-old French folk game from the area of Provence, Petanque is a bit of bowling and a bit of croquet. It’s a perfect game for relaxing after work with a drink in one hand if Johann Sebastian Joust is a little too high-energy for you.

Join us in Manhattan from 5-8:30 pm July 8th to check out these great games, free to the public. Downtown Alliance’s Game On! summer block parties will be going on once a month, so if you can’t make this one, keep an eye out this summer. Kill Screen will be at Wall St. and Water jousting and bowling, as the French do.
