Chernobyl Stalks
Two decades after the reactor blew, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fans slip past the checkpoints to play the game in the real ruins, and the guards chase them for sport.
In March 2002, a group from GSC Game World travelled to the Chernobyl exclusion zone in Ukraine. Armed with cameras and sketchbooks, they meticulously documented the landscape that would soon become the photorealistic environment of their game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Years later, in 2011, on the 25th anniversary of the Chernobyl Reactor explosion, our nomadic design studio Unknown Fields ran a research expedition through this same site.
