The National Asian Culture Center opens submissions for the 2027 edition of ACC NEXT Emerging Asian Artists, its international open call for work at the intersection of art and technology. Applications run Oct. 1 to 25, 2026, closing at 11:59 p.m. Korea time, through an account on the center's site. The call covers interactive installation, generative video and image, kinetic and robotic art, and extended reality, for works not previously shown in another exhibition.
About 10 artists or teams will be selected, each receiving an artist fee of KRW 3,000,000 per work, up to KRW 2,000,000 for installation and materials, round-trip airfare for overseas residents and accommodation. Selected works show April 2 to Aug. 22, 2027, dates the center marks as tentative, at ACC Creation Space 5 in Gwangju, South Korea. The theme, Prototype, is framed "not as something unfinished, but as an original form that distills essential value."
Applicants must be nationals of an Asian country born on or after Jan. 1, 1987, and artists born or raised in Asia can qualify regardless of nationality when their practice engages Asia's cultural, social and historical identities. The exhibition record requirement is one solo show, one show at a national or public museum, or three group exhibitions. One artist or team may also be selected for the 2027 ACC CREATORS Residency through a pitch review; the call circulated this week among creative-coding accounts.
For more reading, see the full call at acc.go.kr and On the Move's listing.
Killscreen flags the residencies and open calls that pay for experimental, game-adjacent work while there is still time to apply. The free KS Radar letter lists them twice a week.
