SLIPSTREAM: Uncharted Realities & the Eternal Now is a group exhibition of video, sculptural and interactive installations at arebyte, the digital art center in Camden, London, curated by Pita Arreola. It runs through Jan. 17, 2027.

Seven artists take part: Angeline Meitzler, Josèfa Ntjam, Natalie Paneng, Rebeca Romero, Kinnari Saraiya, Skawennati and Wendi Yan. The show takes its name from a term whose origins in Native science fiction, arebyte says, are rarely acknowledged. Its premise is that science fiction has often repeated colonial worldviews, and it gathers work that casts Indigenous figures as agents.

Yan is showing Dream of Walnut Palaces (2025), which won the Grand Prix of Hyundai's 6th VH Award. Hyundai Artlab describes it as following a fictional Daoist in an 18th-century Paris laboratory and reimagining the exchange of knowledge between China and Europe. At arebyte, it is projected above a mirrored floor, with red beanbags for viewers. Yan posted installation photos on Oct. 9. Killscreen wrote about Yan's Daoist puzzle game The Inner Carbon Classic in August.

Skawennati, whose practice is described as "speculative fiction machinima, costumes and quilts," is also in the show. Killscreen profiled the artist in 2021.

A session of performances and talks with Skawennati, Saraiya and Yan is set for Nov. 14 at 3 p.m.

Killscreen lists the exhibitions where game engines and machinima show up in galleries, the ones almost nobody else is tracking. The free Radar brings them to your inbox three times a week.
