Rockstar Games staff in the UK will vote from Nov. 12 to 26 on whether to recognize the IWGB Rockstar Game Workers Union, the union said in [its announcement](https://www.instagram.com/p/DfAihvgEbRo/?ref=killscreen.com). The recognition deal, agreed between workers and management after months of negotiation, would give staff a say over pay and bonuses, overtime, redundancies, flexible working and generative AI policies. If it passes, the union says it will be the largest recognized union in the UK games sector.

The ballot overlaps with two other dates. *Grand Theft Auto VI* comes out Nov. 19, in the middle of the voting window. And an employment tribunal over Rockstar's 2025 firing of 31 workers, which the company called gross misconduct and the IWGB calls union busting, is set to hear closing arguments on Nov. 17 and 18, [Game Developer reports](https://www.gamedeveloper.com/business/rockstar-workers-to-vote-on-unionization-ahead-of-grand-theft-auto-vi-release?ref=killscreen.com). Earlier this month, Rockstar's head of publishing said of the drive: "If they want a union, they will have a union."

"This is our moment to secure a window onto the decisions that shape our lives, and a seat at the table to improve them," union committee member Shanti Easton-Steel said in a statement [reported by Aftermath](https://aftermath.site/rockstar-games-union-vote-gta-6-release/?ref=killscreen.com). Easton-Steel named the gender pay gap, shifting overtime policies and job security after the game's release as issues workers want addressed.

The IWGB's Game Workers branch also joined this year's Games Transformed program in London, where the union drive was part of the bill.
