Backed Endorsed by id Software’s John Carmack, the Oculus Rift is a new VR headset that made its [debut](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyuMVazQPos&t=6s&ref=killscreen.com) at E3\. It’s also the technology powering USC’s [Holodeck Project](http://killscreendaily.com/headlines/diy-holodeck/?ref=killscreen.com) that we reported on a couple weeks ago. But today, the company launched a Kickstarter [campaign](http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1523379957/oculus-rift-step-into-the-game?ref=killscreen.com) that revealed a new design for the headset—shedding the duct tape we saw earlier and adopting a refined, consumable design. Like all good Kickstarter pages, Oculus’s pitch includes testimonies from industry sweethearts like Gabe Newell and Cliff Bleszinski.

Unsurprisingly, it’s already reached its $250,000 goal.
