Windows 8 looks like it’s trying to turn your computer into a tablet. When Microsoft offered Notch help in certifying Minecraft for Windows 8, he was not impressed. Kevin Parrish at Tom’s Hardware gives some backstory:

> Valve Software, id Software and Blizzard have openly revealed their distaste for the blocky OS and its built-in storefront, and now Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson has dished out his own two cents, speaking directly to the Redmond company.

> “Got an email from Microsoft, wanting to help ‘certify’ Minecraft for Win 8,” Persson [tweeted](https://twitter.com/notch/status/251239807257296897?ref=killscreen.com). “I told them to stop trying to ruin the PC as an open platform.” Ouch. [He goes on to admit on Twitter](https://twitter.com/notch/status/251240819892305922?ref=killscreen.com) that he’d “rather have Minecraft not run on Win 8 at all than to play along.”

Maybe the collective influence of Valve, Blizzard, and Notch can convince Microsoft that an app store on the PC is a bad idea.
