LoVid make video the way weavers make cloth, and for two months Paris got to see the loom. *Fréquence Tissée*, the duo's first solo exhibition in France, closed at [Galerie Charlot](https://www.galeriecharlot.com/en/expositions/frequence-tissee-226?ref=killscreen.com) on Oct. 31, and the gallery marked [the last day](https://www.instagram.com/p/DfIH%5FECFcsx/?ref=killscreen.com) with a portrait of Tali Hinkis and Kyle Lapidus sitting in front of the work.

Since 2001, Hinkis and Lapidus have built their own audio-video synthesizers by hand, performed with them, and then fixed the resulting signals in textiles, weavings and prints. The pieces in the Paris show are recordings in the most literal sense: electronic noise held in thread. The show's available works run from 2026 weavings back to the duo's 2004 VideoWear series, which put the same signals on the body. The gallery frames the whole practice as a dialogue between hand-built engineering and craft tradition, a DIY ethic applied to the question of what machines are doing to human gesture.

The goodbye is really a handoff. LoVid are on the exhibitor list for Zero 10, Art Basel's sector for art of the digital era, when [the fair lands in Miami Beach](https://www.artbasel.com/miami-beach/zero-10?ref=killscreen.com) Dec. 4 to 6, with a new installation made for the occasion. The sector's second edition, titled *Generation*, gathers 19 projects, and the company is welcome: Daniel Rozin, Sarah Meyohas, Random International, and LoVid's hand-soldered signals alongside the machine-learning crowd.
