There was some speculation late last year about the possibility of *Minecraft* legos finding their way to toy stores and eager fans of Notch’s indie hit. The toy has finally gotten a release date, *Edge* reports:

> The [Minecraft](http://www.edge-online.com/filter/all/tags/485?ref=killscreen.com)\-inspired Lego set will be released this summer for $34.99 / €34.99, but can be preordered from today. Each set contains four modular cubes, the surface of which can be removed to reveal mines and hidden resources beneath. Also included are two of the game’s most iconic characters: Steve and a Creeper.

> Speaking at a press conference in Denmark this morning, *Minecraft* creator and Mojang founder Markus “Notch” Persson said: “I played a lot with Lego bricks as a child, and that’s influenced how I make games. I prefer games with levels that are modifiable. I don’t like static levels.”

Interestingly, despite the fact that *Minecraft* legos seem to make perfect sense, Notch said that in designing them the team faced several “problems of scaling. *Minecraft* has huge long tunnels, and you can’t really fit that in to a living room.”

You can preorder a set of LEGOMinecraft at [jinx.com](http://www.jinx.com/LEGOMinecraft?ref=killscreen.com), where they will donate one percent of every sale to charity.
