Joeveno, the Rio de Janeiro musician and YouTuber behind the *Aviãozinho do Tráfico* series, is booked to speak at GDV Festival, a free two-day gathering of Brazilian game developers at SebraeLAB, inside Brasília's technology park. The series is a run of first-person shooters set in Brazil's favelas and built on id Tech 2, the engine behind *Quake*. Joeveno has described it as a tribute to the Brazilian mods and bootleg discs of the 2000s. The third entry, *BRAZILIAN DRUG DEALER 3: I OPENED A PORTAL TO HELL IN THE FAVELA TRYING TO REVIVE MIT AIA I NEED TO CLOSE IT*, made [Kotaku's list of the best shooters of 2025](https://kotaku.com/best-fps-shooters-2025-borderlands-battlefield-doom-first-person-shooter-2000653497?ref=killscreen.com). A standalone expansion, *BRAZILIAN DRUG DEALER BEFORE 4*, arrived on [Steam](https://store.steampowered.com/app/4241920/?ref=killscreen.com) in September, and Killscreen [covered the release](https://www.killscreen.com/joevenos-favela-shooter-harkens-bootleg-brazil-ps2s/).

The festival is organized by the game-development school CSJ Digital, Sebrae-DF and ABRING, Brasília's association of independent studios. Alongside talks and workshops, it runs the Mostra BRING, a showcase of more than 30 games from studios in the Federal District; the GDV Jam, a team game jam that runs across both days; and the GDV Awards, which name the best Brazilian independent game at the closing ceremony.

Other confirmed speakers include Philippe Lepletier of Uruca Game Studio, maker of *Mandinga: A Tale of Banzo*; Andrezitos, co-founder of Sad Socket, the studio behind *9 Kings*; Rafael Bastos of Dumativa, producer of *Enigma do Medo* and of the five largest crowdfunding campaigns for Brazilian digital games; and the conductor Everton Luiz, who has worked with Elza Soares and writes scores for games, film and theater. Admission is free, with limited places, through [the festival's site](https://gdvfestival.com.br/?ref=killscreen.com).
