As [controversy around the Defense of Marriage Act](http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544%5F162-20035398-503544.html?ref=killscreen.com)— a law that defines marriage as between one man and one woman on a federal level— [continues to mount](http://www.huffingtonpost.com/richard-c-milstein/chipping-away-at-doma%5Fb%5F1695104.html?ref=killscreen.com), Electronic Arts has signed an [amicus brief](https://www.killscreen.com/content/files/datastore/general/2012/07/11/12-15388%5Famicus%5Fbrief%5F70%5Fbusiness.pdf) alongside other employers like Gap, Google, Microsoft and Xerox, vouching for their application of anti-discriminatory work policies. In a statement on their inclusion in the coalition, EA said the following:

> Electronic Arts has joined with dozens of leading US employers in signing an amicus brief that opposes the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and urges the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to find portions of the Act unconstitutional.

> DOMA presents a number of problems for businesses like EA, as it creates regulatory, tax, and discrimination complications for employers, and that’s why we’re standing against it. The underlying lawsuit impacts all employers no matter how big or small, and no matter the industry, and we encourage other business to join these efforts.
