Neil Armstrong may have walked on the moon first, but he never [had his name on a video game](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSJmQkeI9ho&ref=killscreen.com). Buzz Aldrin’s [rose-tinted space goggles](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anqGd6Vgn2Q&ref=killscreen.com) paint a rather different picture from our own [dusty, bloody ones](http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Mars-War-Logs/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802584113c0?ref=killscreen.com).

*The Sims* get a galactic twist in *[Redshirt](http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/previews/10485-Redshirt-Preview-Facebooking-Across-the-Universe?ref=killscreen.com)*, the newest life/dating-simulation game crossed with the (at times, deadly) tasks of “climbing the ladder” for a cosmic mega-corporation. Oh, and there are aliens and Spacebook–the latest social-networking craze in [Galaxy Q2343-BX442](http://news.discovery.com/space/galaxies/ancient-spiral-galaxy-discovered-1207178.htm?ref=killscreen.com).

Gran Turismo might be [getting a movie](http://www.engadget.com/2013/07/24/sony-reportedly-planning-gran-turismo-movie/?ref=killscreen.com), along with *[Need for Speed](http://epdaily.tv/all/type-of/news/go-behind-the-scenes-of-the-need-for-speed-movie/?ref=killscreen.com)*. We assume Vin Diesel will feature in both.

At the 2013 SIGGRAPH conference, NVIDIA and Epic Games paired up to show [Epic’s Unreal Engine 4](http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2013/07/24/epic-and-nvidia-bring-unreal-engine-4-to-mobile.aspx?utm%5Fsource=twitterfeed&utm%5Fmedium=twitter) played on mobile devices–an engine traditionally used by Epic for console and PC graphic cards. Epic CEO Tim Sweeney commented that the engine “brings to mobile devices the same high-end graphics hardware capabilities exposed via DirectX 11 on PC games and on next-generation consoles.” OK!

[*Runescape* is back](http://www.runescape.com/splash?ref=killscreen.com), which is exciting if you’re a middle schooler with nothing to do during lunch.

Is Nintendo putting on its big-boy pants and [finally bringing indie games](http://www.edge-online.com/news/indies-on-wii-u-how-does-nintendos-approach-compare-to-sony-and-microsofts/?ref=killscreen.com) into the Wii U eShop? [Barring any game designers from their own country](http://www.computerandvideogames.com/420499/nintendo-confirms-wii-u-indie-block-across-japan/?ref=killscreen.com), Nintendo has increasingly reached out to designers in America and Europe to develop titles for the WiiU. “Nintendo’s approach is slightly different,” said Phil Tossell, a designer for Nyamyam. “I think Nintendo is actively seeking indies, but they’re looking for quality, experienced developers that they can maybe form a longer term relationship with.” Groovy.

Worried that the re-release of *EarthBound* on WiiU got lost in translation? Rest easy, because [the translator himself has stepped up to divulge the details of his process](http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2013/07/marcus-lindblom-earthbound/?ref=killscreen.com) with interesting insight into why and what was localized.

Remember *Nidhogg*? No, not the mythological dragon—the totally vicious and long awaited sword pitching-slinging-fencing game that has only made exhibit appearances, until now. It’s finally getting a release [by the end of the year](http://indiegames.com/2013/07/nidhogg%5Ffinally%5Freleasing%5Fthis.html?ref=killscreen.com).

If you’re a masochist, then starting August 8th, the [*Spelunky* Daily Challenge](http://spelunkyworld.com/dailychallenge/?ref=killscreen.com) will give you a daily boost after work. If you’re not a masochist, start practicing now to mitigate the oncoming feelings of inferiority.

Soak up all the JRPG you want with NIS America’s new *[Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95xx2v3lDlY&feature=player%5Fembedded&ref=killscreen.com)* trailer. Looks good, but who the hell is in charge of hiring these voice actors?!

This [free Kanye West RPG](http://kanyequest3030.tumblr.com/about?ref=killscreen.com) is a thing—a wonderful, glorious thing:

> In January 2010, as rapper and producer Kanye West is taking the garbage out one day, he suddenly travels through a wormhole. Emerging on the other side, Kanye finds himself in the year 3030\. In a dystopian city filled with clones of hip-hop musicians and under the control of a god-like dictator, can Kanye get back home?
