Cameron A. Granger has released [*Apollo in the Crosshairs*](https://realtayediggs.itch.io/apollo?ref=killscreen.com), a free browser game on itch.io that takes about 10 minutes to play. Granger shared it in [announcement clips on Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/p/DdutT9dDrP4/?ref=killscreen.com). Watch a clip below.

In it, you play a defense contractor tasked with scanning the world for uses, both unknown and presumed, and it passes innocently enough. You're thinking about vacation and sleep when a mysterious woman on the beach opens up an entire world. She is trouble, and she is Shiva.

From Cameron A. Granger's announcement clips for **Apollo in the Crosshairs*.

Granger says the project began as an attempt at a first-person shooter, and calls the result "a hate poem for the surveillance state." But it draws heavily on the lineage of Paolo Pedercini's [UNMANNED](https://www.killscreen.com/tag/unmanned/), with a twist only a fan of Carré or Steve McQueen's *Widows* would love.

The soundtrack uses two Laraaji tracks and a Ryuichi Sakamoto sample, and the collage includes GIFs from the Internet Archive's GifCities.

*Apollo in the Crosshairs* is Granger's third browser game, begun as a break between larger projects, and bears all the chaotic chiaroscuro that has become a trademark for his game work. Granger is an alum of the Studio Museum in Harlem and also works in film. The previous release, *Sidechain*, is built around a Columbus warehouse party.

A fine-art filmmaker ships a game about the surveillance state and almost nobody covering games notices. Catching that work is the whole job here, and the newsletter is free.
