This response to [his first fan-mail written by an American](http://www.lettersofnote.com/2009/12/my-real-name-is-david-jones.html?ref=killscreen.com), dated 1967, proves it.

They even liked the single “Love You Till Tuesday”. I’ve got a copy of the American album and they’ve printed the picture a little yellow. I’m really not that blond.*
