There’s been some speculation recently how a prohibitively expensive and complex media platform like a PC could [continue to survive financially](http://articles.businessinsider.com/2012-01-16/tech/30631034%5F1%5Fpc-sales-ios-android?ref=killscreen.com). Then, as if in response to these fears, Alienware unleashed [this new curiosity](http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-01-18-alienware-unveils-its-first-small-and-cheap-gaming-pc-the-x51?ref=killscreen.com): a slimmed-down personal computer that looks so much like an Xbox 360 that [many](http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/01/18/alienware-x51-is-a-console-sized-gaming-pc/?ref=killscreen.com) [tech](http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2399010,00.asp?ref=killscreen.com) [sites](http://www.tgdaily.com/opinion-features/60877-alienware-x51-a-pc-for-the-masses?ref=killscreen.com) describe it as the console of PC gaming:

This is something that has never been done before; there’s no other small form factor PCs out there that offer any sort of a significant gaming experience,” Alienware senior product manager Eoin Leyden informed Eurogamer.

I mean, just *look at the thing!* They’re even offering an XBLA/PSN-like service called [“Alienware Gaming Services.”](http://www.alienware.com/support/index.aspx?ref=killscreen.com) I guess if you can’t beat ‘em, might as well join ‘em.
